Reiki Healing and Christianity

In my current research I have found more and more medical professionals are recognizing the value of Reiki in healing ailments. Counselors and therapists are recognizing the value of Reiki healing for their patients with anxiety, depression, and emotional scars from the past. The one area that is now beginning to see the value in Reiki is in within the realm of religion and belief. Those of the Christian faith often struggle with the question as to whether Reiki is right for them or not. Yet, most Christians accept medication for mental illnesses and physical problems. Also, where would we be if individuals were not trained as surgeons when an appendix is about to burst? Regardless of religious belief, an appendectomy can save someone’s life! At some point in history Christianity has learned to accept that sometimes God heals through the hands of a surgeon, or medications and other scientific means. More Christian believers are beginning to see the value of Reiki as a great addition to their healing process; body, mind, and spirit. Reiki …

Trust, and the Truth Will Reveal Itself

As I see it, there are two kinds of truth. There is truth with a capital “T” meaning higher or divine truth. Then there is truth as in the opposite of a lie. The statement in my title is about truth with a small “t” or the opposite of a lie. Lying, deception, setting up things as if they are truth, all seem to be a harsh part of human reality. But who are we kidding here? Nothing is ever gone unseen, especially by what or Who is unseen. I believe it was Thomas in the Bible who was told by Jesus, “Blessed is he who has not seen and yet still believes.” Jesus was talking about mystical things or divine Truth. Yet, His statement is still as profound about the opposite of a lie. Sometimes we see things and think we know what is true. Sometimes we don’t see things, and yet, there is a gut hunch as to what is true or not. Gut hunches are interesting. Not many know or understand that …

Weekly Wisdom: Mastering Calm in the Storm. “Peace be still.”

Have you ever experienced a natural calm during a time of challenge or disaster? Our bodies create this calm in order to help us see a situation clearly and deal with it quickly and efficiently. It truly is quite a miracle! I know I have felt this sudden calm during some of the most difficult times in my life so I know it first hand. It’s obtainable and available when we need it. What we often don’t realize is it’s also available any other time too. This wonderful calm is like when Jesus commanded the waves of the sea to become still. His utterance, “Peace, be still” is almost like an affirmation He put out to create the environment He wanted all to witness. The disciples were in a boat filled with fear, panic and anxiety. We know this could only create more of the same. Jesus had to change the state of the situation by calming the sea so they could see more clearly. They were never in danger, but they perceived they were. …

Truth About Energy Healing, Light, and the Body, Mind, Emotion Connection (Part 2 of a Series)

Let There Be Light!  Take your finger and put it on your forehead between the eyebrow area. Deeper inside this area in your head is a gland called the pineal gland. (Eastern culture calls this area the third eye.) This little wonder creates the neurotransmitters serotonin and melatonin. Serotonin is sort of the feel good neurotransmitter. It helps to regulate mood, sexual desire, digestion, memory and sleep. Melatonin helps with the sleep and waking cycles within your body. Without balanced quantities of these amazing little guys, our bodies get out of whack. We can become depressed, not sleep right, have memory issues and more. For such a little gland, the pineal gland carries a lot of importance, and guess what? It is benefited by SUNLIGHT. Taking in natural sunlight into the eyes is very important because this helps stimulate this amazing little gland, and will benefit the brain and mood. I read once that the pineal gland has some similar tissues as the retina of the eyes. Basically without natural sunlight we are not balanced, …

A Lesson from the Cross We Don’t Always Think About

Easter weekend always brings a sense of spring, good weather, celebration, family, and food. Alright, these days sometimes the weather is not all the greatest around. But Easter brings up thoughts of chocolate, hard boiled and dyed eggs, leg of lamb and family gatherings. In the Christian church the focus is on Jesus, the cross, His sacrifice, His rising, and His love. In a time of celebration, the church has been lifting up Jesus every year for centuries for His acceptance of an experience that has gone down in history as one of the most profound acts of sacrificial love ever known to humankind. I have been so contemplative recently, as I meditated on the cross and what Jesus endured that day on Calvary’s mountain. I let my mind wander to the scene in the garden when Jesus prayed, sweat and cried, with blood, and anguish. He knew He was going to be crucified. Did He want this? Who would? We know He did not in his words, “Father please take this cup from me.” …

Love’s Truth

Along life’s path we all experience so many different feelings and facets of what love might be. It’s like it is segmented into pieces that we, as humans, can somehow understand. Maybe the full depth of it is so overwhelming that slicing it up like pieces of warm apple pie is the only way we can handle its implications. So, we segment, and find places in our lives where different facets of love belong. Of course, there is infatuation; the facet of love that is most confusing. We are meant to be infatuated with others. It is how deeper love can begin, or not. Infatuation is like a mini suburb of love. It takes what is seen and sensed on the outside and makes us feel all dizzy, dancing and emotionally almost high. In truth, infatuation causes changes in the brain that create a certain natural high that many of us mistake for love which is meant to be deeper.  Then there is dedication love. There might not be a dizzy dancing feeling but there …
