Establishing Yourself in the “Void”

I was watching a movie the other night and one of the characters proclaimed, “I don’t know what is wrong with me, I feel so empty.” In the story line she was in transition. Her life had a pending new decision which meant letting go of all that is for soon what will be. In the mean time, her life was void, empty, seemingly stuck. I nodded as I listened to her mostly complain and cry. Drama will be drama. I understood her statement though. I think we have all been there. In “the void”. The void is that place where we think is dark and empty. It seems that way when we are there. In truth, though, it’s a place filled with expectation and creation. Remember, God created from that which was void and made beautiful things. The void is a place of learning to let go of what was for what will be. It’s a place of utilizing our faith and imagination to create new things. Yes, it is also an exercise in …

Are You Living Outside of Yourself?

Do you find yourself continually affected by other people’s actions, attitudes, or things that happen to you? If you are, then you are not alone. We all tend to do this and for some reason make our lives harder than it has to be. Have you ever noticed if you walk into a room filled with people in a bad mood your mood tends to change to align with theirs? Or maybe your relationship partner will get to you by their actions or personality now and then. We all do affect one another’s lives but we are not meant to live outside of ourselves to the point where everyone and every other thing affects how we are or feel inside. For some reason, people tend to be like sheep. We follow others instead of being our own leader. Jesus referred to people as sheep a few times in His conversations. I certainly can see why. The hard thing about living in a way where we are always affected by others, is that we never really …

What if the Whole Body of Christ Lovingly Prayed for One Another?

When I close my eyes and think of the church, not the organization, but the whole Body of Christ, I see a huge family that God had put together. We are meant to be family; a global one. God tells us that we are one faith, one baptism, and one body. Jesus even prayed we would be “as one” just like He is with the Father. The Trinity is an amazing mystery. It is three persons in one, meaning the godhead operates in one accord and in unity with itself. There is nothing that is done that is not in agreement between the three persons of God; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is one in purpose, one in faith, one in truth, and one in love. This is how Jesus envisioned the church. He sees us as one Body, with one vision, one purpose, one in faith, one in truth, and one in love. Can you imagine if the whole Body of Christ prayed together in one accord, …

When Will the WHOLE Body of Christ Love One Another? I Wonder?

John 13:34  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” I remember the first time as a little girl falling in love with the portrayal of love within Jesus. I really think He became my super hero. When it came to Jesus, all I could think about was how I wanted to be like Him. I know, over the years, I have fallen short of that. The main thing is I keep on going and so should you! With all of the difficult things that are going on in the world, I question what Jesus thinks when He looks at His Bride in strife. Oh, I know He loves us, that is for sure!  What I mean, is I wonder, if He ever weeps over our lack of love and compassion between one another when we disagree. He gave us guidelines to live and love by. Those things are clear. I often wonder why we don’t all try a bit harder to obey …

When We Love Others It Should Open Their Hearts Not Close Them

Not long ago I had a deep prayerful conversation with someone who has deeply touched my life. I think this person by far has been the strongest and yet most humbled I have known. We talked about who deserves Christ, the love of God, and how the Body of Christ is supposed to be “as one” just as Jesus is one with our Holy Father. There is no doubt we have a dysfunctional family but we are family none the less. Yet Jesus prayed we be one. The oneness Jesus spoke of is not just one church body within an organization but through the whole Body of Christ. Yes, we fall short of that for sure. If we are ever supposed to achieve what Jesus asked for then we have to let down our guard, open our hearts, and allow bridges to be rebuilt where they have been torn down. We will never do this if we treat one another as an inconvenience. Bottom line, lack of forgiveness is at the root of our demise. …

When Disaster Hits- State of Texas Prayer Director Message

Several days ago the State of Texas, the nation, and the world, watched as a category 4 hurricane not only hit southern Texas but lingered over several areas for many days. The rain is not over and the destruction continues. This disaster is one which, not only the state, but our great nation has not seen in this magnitude in a very long time. We will also remember this time in history for a very long time. As our hearts grieve, our spirits pray, and we watch the events unfold, I want to encourage everyone that God is on the throne and that the light of Jesus Christ will shine through as faithful as He always has! Here is a message I created as the State of Texas Director for the United States National Prayer Council. We all so appreciate your prayers, your compassion, and your giving! God bless you! Flash from the Past Poem from 2012

There’s a space, I knew, I could lay it down A place where shadows never play. I can feel the essence of this hollowed ground Never knew my dreams would long to stay Wrapped in golden, breath of life in the air I’m beholding, all the visions I have known Rivers bless me, I can see them everywhere This is the journey I have traveled all alone. Did you think I would be empty Just because you did not care? Have you forgotten where my honor is And could not find me anywhere? I have been known to hold my own. Distant thunder, coming closer as I wait The rain is pouring down, in the light Blessed sanctuary, a place of heaven’s gate My Master says that I will be alright. Kissed by sunlight, Holy essence in the air Standing stronger, in spaces I can call my own Dressed in armor, prayerful garments I can share This is the journey, I have traveled all alone. Did you think I would be empty Just because …
